[November 4th-8th] - We are pleased to share that members of our research group presented at two international conferences this November. At the 14th International Conference on Information Communication and Management (ICICM 2024), held online from November 6-8 in Paris, France, Atieh Khodadadi presented our new research titled "Multi-flow Process Mining for Comprehensive Simulation Model Discovery," co-authored with Prof. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar.
Additionally, Dr. Mustafa Demetgül represented our team at the Urban Transitions 2024 conference, organized by Elsevier and held in Barcelona, Spain, from November 4-7. He presented a poster titled "Data Requirements for Road-Tire Noise Prediction", based on insights from the TyreRoadNoise project.

[October 24th, 2024] - We are very pleased to share that Professor Sanja Lazarova-Molnar has been appointed as The Society of Modeling and Simulation International (SCS) representative to the Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) Board of Directors. It is a great honor to serve alongside esteemed scholars and contribute to the advancement of our vibrant simulation community.
The Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) has a long history as one of the premier forums for disseminating research and advances in the field of simulation. Since its inception in 1967, the conference has brought together researchers, practitioners, and vendors from academia, government, and industry to share innovations, applications, and theoretical developments. Governed by the WSC Board of Directors, which includes representatives from key organizations, such as INFORMS, ACM, Association for Computing Machinery/SIGSIM, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), IEEE/SMCS and ASIM - Arbeitsgemeinschaft Simulation, the conference has lately also placed a strong emphasis on data-driven simulation and digital twins, reflecting their critical role in addressing the complexities of modern systems.

[September 25th, 26th, 2024] - Our SYDSEN research group held a two-day retreat in Durlach (Karlsruhe) on September 25th-26th, 2024, aimed at enhancing team collaboration and refining the group’s vision, mission, values, and objectives. The event featured team-building activities, PhD student progress presentations, and insights from some of our researchers on their PhD journeys. The retreat brought together SYDSEN members, as well as external and affiliated PhD students, fostering a collaborative environment for future endeavors. Last but not least, we also had fun playing games and enjoyed an inspiring walk through the charming streets of Durlach.
[September 18-19, 2024] - The ONE4ALL Project held its fourth consortium meeting in Padova on September 18th and 19th. During this session, Prof. Dr. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar detailed the advancements in Work Package 2, which focuses on Data-driven Digital Twins. Additionally, Ph.D. students from SYDSEN, Atieh Khodadadi and Manuel Götz, alongside SYDSEN-affiliated Ph.D. student at SDU, Ashkan Zare, shared updates on their research. Their work aims to develop digital twins for energy-efficient and human-centric manufacturing systems, integrating rigorous validation approaches. Furthermore, the SYDSEN-affiliated Postdoc researcher at SDU, Dr. Sani Abdullahi, discussed his recent progress on the security of the IOP infrastructure under Work Package 3.

[June 17th, 2024] -We are happy to announce the achievement by members of our team. Dr. Sani Abdullahi, Affiliated Postdoctoral Researcher, and Ashkan Zare, an Affiliated PhD Student, under the supervision of Prof. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar. The paper titled "Cybersecurity in Distributed Industrial Digital Twins: Threats, Defenses, and Key Takeaways", was awarded the Best Paper Runner-Up at The 1st International Workshop on Distributed Digital Twins (DiDiT2024). [May 7-8, 2024] - We are very pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Kick-Off meeting of the DMaaST EU project in Sevilla. We are excited to be a part of this journey for the next four years! In the meeting, attended by Prof. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar and Michelle Jungmann, we established a strong foundation through engaging presentations and constructive discussions.
The DMaaST project aims to enhance the resilience of smart manufacturing ecosystems. Within the project, we lead the Work Package 3, aimed at development of hybrid and cognitive digital twins.

[January 31-February 1st, 2024] -At the end of January, our research group had a two-day inspiring strategic retreat in Bad Herrenalb. The goal of the retreat was to foster team collaboration and clarify the vision, mission, values, and objectives of SYDSEN. The retreat began with team-building activities and transitioned into discussions about the group's direction and strategic planning. The second day included research presentations, a discussion on our teaching activities, and a workshop on scientific writing best practices. The event concluded with a summary of key takeaways, ensuring a productive outcome for all members.
[January 16-17, 2024] -The consortium of the ONE4ALL Project convened for their third consortium meeting in Athens on January 16th and 17th. Prof. Dr. Sanja Lazarova-Molnar presented the current state of the Work Package 2 - Data-driven Digital Twins, and Ph.D. students of SYDSEN, Atieh Khodadadi, and Manuel Götz, discussed the implementation of data-driven digital twins in manufacturing systems, detailing the data requirements and the group's further objectives in developing energy-focused and human-centric digital twins.

[January 1st, 2024] - We're happy to welcome Dr. Min-Bin_Lin as a postdoctoral researcher at SYDSEN, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Dr. Min-Bin will be working on the TyRoN project, which is funded by funded by the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport.

Within this programme, PhD Candidates Atieh Khodadadi and Manuel Götz from the SYDSEN Research Group will visit the MSDA (Modeling, Simulation and Data Analytics) Research Group at SDU's Odense campus. This research-oriented exchange encompasses a Joint Research Seminar aimed at fostering meaningful discussions and productive brainstorming workshops to further advance EPICUR's objectives.
