Description

Problem: With increasing share of intermittent renewable energy sources from the total electrical generation, high reliability of electricity grids is critical to ensure security and adequacy of the power supply. However, research is required to better understand the impact of these sources on the performance of electrical grids.

Goal: This thesis aims to assess the impact of renewable energy generation on the performance and reliability of power grids using analytical and simulation techniques such as Markov models, and Monte Carlo simulation. Exploring the challenges of integrating variable renewable energy sources provides valuable insight to the future of power systems.
